An important part of our daily work is to provide guidance and assistance to people in their professional development. In addition, we also wish our expertise to contribute to the development of other areas of society. So we have supported and encouraged young people, for many years now, offering them exciting possibilities.
The WORK4YOU project is an initiative of the Don-Bosco-Club in Cologne-Mülheim, which since 1968 has been taking effective and committed care of children and young people from difficult social backgrounds who are not fortunate enough to grow up in well-ordered families and in loving surroundings. Since January 2016, a pedagogical team has been supporting the young people with a 24/7 offer to strengthen their abilities and self-confidence, thus making an important contribution to their integration into society and the job market. We supported the project for the first time in 2019 with a donation and are proud to be able to make an effective contribution to the further work.
RheinFlanke has operated as a mobile welfare support for youths since 2006. Its programme is aimed at socially deprived youths with disadvantaged educational backgrounds.
The RheinFlanke non-profit GmbH was first established in 2006 as "Köln Kickt". Today, its programmes are offered beyond the city limits of Cologne. It has expanded to six other locations along the river Rhine. Local branches are active under the name RheinFlanke in Bonn, Düsseldorf, Meckenheim, Grevenbroich, Bedburg and Bornheim. Since summer 2014, Berlin has become the latest location beyond NRW to offer this programme. Thirty two staff members, temporary staff and volunteers reach about 1200 children and adolescents weekly.
In 1987, a concert society, founded on Cologne’s historical background, was established to support the Gürzenich Orchester. In the 90s, ifp was involved in establishing a Board of Trustees. Cooperating with other members, it has continued to be responsible for sponsoring soloists, promoting talents, also the performing and recordings of the Gürzenich Orchester chamber concerts.
The ARD Music Competition, held annually in Munich, is one of the largest international music competitions of its kind attracting young musicians from all over the world. Many of today's world famous artists have been able to use their award as a springboard for their careers, to name just a few: Jessye Norman, Francisco Araiza, Mitsuko Uchida, Thomas Quasthoff, Yuri Bashmet, Christian Tetzlaff, Sharon Kam, Heinz Holliger, Peter Sadlo and Maurice André. Since the year 2006, ifp has promoted this competition with a special prize for finalists.
As founding donor, ifp has supported the work at the Junges Literaturhaus. Since 2007 this organisation has introduced contemporary literature to young people through workshops and readings. We aim to provide this relatively young facility with long term financial stability.
Ifp is an active member in the Köln Musik e.V. Board of Trustees. Since the 90s we have ensured that it’s possible to offer tickets at a reasonable price, even for the most sought after concerts. We support both innovative music series and the com-missioning of works by aspiring composers equally.
Since 2006, ifp, together with the association Unternehmer für die Region Köln e.V, (Entrepreneurs in the Cologne Region), has been a sponsor of the Masterplan Innenstadt. We have actively promoted and supported the city planning framework concept, aiming to continually improve the design of the city and its functionality.
